Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Neuro Intensive Care Unit Registered Nurse (RN) to join a healthcare facility in Wausau, WI on a 13-week travel assignment. The RN will provide specialized nursing care to patients with neurological injuries and conditions, requiring close monitoring, advanced clinical interventions, and collaboration with the interdisciplinary care team. The ideal candidate is experienced in high-acuity neuro ICU settings and adaptable in fast-paced environments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide direct and continuous nursing care to patients with neurological injuries or conditions.
  • Monitor vital signs, neurological status, and respond promptly to changes in patient condition.
  • Administer medications, IV therapies, and treatments as prescribed.
  • Operate and maintain specialized equipment such as ICP monitors and ventilators.
  • Collaborate with physicians, neurologists, respiratory therapists, and interdisciplinary teams to deliver comprehensive care.
  • Document assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately in compliance with facility and regulatory standards.
  • Provide education and support to patients and families regarding neurological conditions and recovery expectations.
  • Maintain adherence to infection control protocols, safety standards, and ICU best practices.

Qualifications
  • Current and valid RN license in Wisconsin (or compact eligibility).
  • Minimum 1-2 years of recent ICU or Neuro ICU nursing experience in an acute care setting.
  • Current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS).
  • Strong assessment, critical thinking, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in high-acuity and high-pressure environments.
  • COVID-19 vaccine and recent tuberculosis test.
