JOB SUMMARY
The PHYSICAL THERAPIST (PT) - ACUTE CARE is a healthcare provider who, through education and experience, possesses a distinct body of knowledge and skills relative to the care of patients in an acute care setting. He/she applies specialized physical therapy knowledge in assessing, implementing, and evaluating patient response to acute medical conditions and rehabilitation interventions. He/she initiates physical therapy care, health teaching, and health counseling that supports life and restores well-being. Physical therapy care is performed in accordance with the relevant practice act and under the direction and supervision of the appropriate client representative(s) on the assigned Acute Care Unit.

EDUCATION
Bachelor's, Master's, or Doctorate degree in Physical Therapy from an accredited program.
LICENSURE
Current GA state licensure as a Physical Therapist.
EXPERIENCE
Minimum of one year of experience working as a Physical Therapist, preferably in a home health or rehabilitation setting.
CREDENTIALS
Current CPR at least to the BLS level; and other health and screening tests as required by specific facilities and/or regulatory agencies.
ENVIRONMENTAL WORKING CONDITIONS
Various client facility settings; possible exposure to blood, bodily fluids, and other potentially infectious materials.

- Conduct comprehensive assessments of patients' physical abilities, including range of motion, strength, balance, and gait.
- Develop individualized treatment plans based on assessment findings, patient goals, and physician recommendations.
- Administer therapeutic exercises, manual therapy techniques, and modalities to promote functional independence and improve mobility.
- Educate patients and their caregivers on proper techniques for performing exercises and activities of daily living.
- Monitor patients' progress and modify treatment plans as needed to achieve therapeutic goals.
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care and ensure continuity of services.
- Document evaluation findings, treatment interventions, and patient progress accurately and timely in electronic medical records.
- Maintain compliance with state regulations, Medicare guidelines, and agency policies and procedures.
- Participate in ongoing professional development activities to stay current with evidence-based practices and advancements in the field of physical therapy.
