Job Summary:
Day shift: 5x8-Hour (06:00 - 15:00)
As an Operating Room RN, you will be responsible for planning, organizing, and providing excellent nursing care to patients undergoing surgical procedures. Your role will involve assisting surgeons during operations, monitoring patients' vital signs, and ensuring a safe and comfortable environment within the operating room. Your dedication and expertise will play a critical role in the success of surgical outcomes and patient satisfaction.
Responsibilities:
1. Assessing patients' conditions before, during, and after surgeries.
2. Planning and implementing individualized care plans in consultation with medical teams.
3. Monitoring and recording vital signs, anesthesia administration, and patients' responses during procedures.
4. Ensuring a sterile and organized surgical environment by adhering to infection control protocols.
5. Assisting surgeons by providing necessary instruments, supplies, and medication during procedures.
6. Collaborating with other healthcare professionals, including anesthesiologists, to provide comprehensive patient care.
7. Administering medications, IV fluids, and blood products as required during surgeries.
8. Documenting patient information, procedures, and outcomes accurately and timely.
9. Preparing patients for surgery by explaining procedures and addressing their concerns.
10. Educating patients and their families on post-operative care instructions.
11. Providing emotional support and maintaining open communication with patients throughout their surgical journey.
12. Responding promptly to emergencies and assisting the team in crisis management.
13. Conducting ongoing assessments to identify potential complications and implementing preventive measures.
14. Participating in the development and implementation of quality improvement initiatives.
Qualifications and Skills:
1. Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN) or Associate's degree in Nursing (ADN) from an accredited institution.
2. NC or Compact license - Required in hand at time of start.
3. Active Basic Life Support (BLS) certification and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
4. 1 year experience required.
5. Knowledge of surgical procedures, instruments, and equipment.
6. Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
7. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
8. Ability to remain calm and focused in high-pressure situations.
9. Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
10. Commitment to patient safety, privacy, and confidentiality.
11. Adherence to ethical and professional nursing standards.
