Licensed Practical Nurse / Licensed Vocational Nurse Job Summary

The Licensed Practical Nurse / Licensed Vocational Nurse (LPN / LVN) will provide skilled, personalized nursing care for students with special needs in community, school, or home health settings. This role is ideal for a Licensed Practical Nurse or Licensed Vocational Nurse with experience working with children, adolescents, and families, focused on creating a therapeutic, individualized environment. This is a full-time contract position through May 2025.

Compensation:
$28-$33 per hour, based on experience.

Requirements
  • Education: Completion of an accredited program in practical nursing, qualifying you as a Licensed Practical Nurse / Licensed Vocational Nurse.
  • Licensure: Current, unrestricted license in the state of Texas as a Licensed Practical Nurse or Licensed Vocational Nurse.
  • Experience: Minimum of one year of recent LPN / LVN experience, especially with children, adolescents, and families in a community, school, or home health setting.
  • Credentials: Background check, OIG, SAM, OFAC, and NSO screenings as required.
  • Current BLS-level CPR certification (American Heart Association or equivalent)
  • Compliance with Hepatitis B vaccine
  • TB screening and baseline testing upon hire (two-step PPD or Quantiferon Gold as required)
  • Drug screening as per client contract.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Provide direct nursing care under the supervision of an RN or physician.
  • Administer prescribed medications and monitor patient reactions.
  • Assist students with special needs in daily living skills, social skills, and recreational activities.
  • Record and maintain health information in compliance with HIPAA.
  • Ensure all care practices respect cultural diversity and age-specific needs.
  • Special Focus: As a Licensed Practical Nurse / Licensed Vocational Nurse, support individual students with special needs by providing clinical care and therapeutic activities to promote independence and developmental progress.
