Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) Registered Nurse (Travel)

Location: Omaha, NE
Job Type: Travel Contract
Duration: 13 weeks
Shift: 3×12 Days + call every 5–6 weekends (holiday call required)
Pay: $2,323.80/week
Completion Bonus: $2,500 per contract (up to $7,500 after three contracts)

Position Overview

ATC Healthcare is seeking an experienced PACU / Pre-Op Registered Nurse for a fast-paced perioperative environment supporting preoperative, PACU, and Phase II recovery care. This role is ideal for nurses with strong post-anesthesia recovery skills and experience across multiple surgical specialties.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive nursing care in Pre-Op, PACU, and Phase II recovery areas.
  • Recover post-operative patients across a variety of specialties: orthopedics, bariatrics, general surgery, urology, GYN, spine, sports medicine, and select radiology/cath lab procedures.
  • Monitor and manage airway, hemodynamics, pain, nausea, and sedation recovery following anesthesia.
  • Prepare and optimize patients for surgical or procedural care including cath lab, IR, TEE, and imaging interventions.
  • Maintain safe nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:3 and deliver timely assessments and interventions.
  • Document all care accurately using EPIC EMR.
  • Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia, perioperative services, and allied health teams.
  • Float as needed between Pre-Op, PACU, and Phase II.
  • Participate in on-call rotations, including holiday call.
  • Complete required open-book skills exam during orientation (90% passing required).

Qualifications

  • Active RN license (state requirement applies; license accepted for submission).
  • Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS.
  • Must have recent experience in both Pre-Op and PACU, including Phase II recovery.
  • Minimum experience with varied surgical patient populations (ortho, general, GYN, bariatrics, etc.).
  • EPIC experience preferred/required.
  • Must comply with radius rule (50 miles) and cannot have employment ties (FT/PT/PRN) with CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity.
  • Driver’s license required at submission for radius verification.
  • Artificial nails strictly prohibited (compliance required for continuation of assignment).
  • Proof of COVID-19 vaccination and recent tuberculosis test required.
