Job Description:

We are seeking a highly adaptable Registered Nurse (RN) for a mixed Pediatric and Medical-Surgical Telemetry (MST) unit. This unique 10-bed unit requires the clinician to be comfortable caring for both adult and pediatric patients (often having more adult than pediatric patients). The ideal candidate must have strong acute care experience, be a strong self-starter, and possess pediatric expertise.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver nursing care to a mixed population of adult and pediatric patients, including those with surgical recoveries (Total Joint, Hysterectomy, Appendectomy) and complex medical issues (COPD, Pneumonia, RSV, Seizures, COVID).
  • Serve as the primary nurse for adult MST patients requiring Telemetry monitoring, which includes reading and interpreting cardiac rhythm strips.
  • Provide stabilization and assist with procedures (like administering high flow nasal cannula) for pediatric patients whose status changes prior to transfer (as no long-term vents/trachs/feeding tubes are managed on this unit).
  • Float as required to the MST unit, MCU, and to the Birthing Unit to care for mom-baby couplets (and L&D if experienced), demonstrating flexibility across diverse care settings.
  • Collaborate effectively with the Charge RN, NAs (ratio 1:10), and the wider interdisciplinary team.
  • Manage high-risk situations, applying appropriate stabilization techniques, though titration of drips is not required.

Qualifications:

  • Active RN license in the state of California (CA RN License required).
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certifications.
  • Experience working with children is REQUIRED. Must be willing to care for both adult and pediatric patients.
  • Minimum of 2 years of recent acute care experience is required for submission.
  • Must pass the Dysrhythmia Exam (80% score in 2 attempts) prior to signing the contract.
  • Charting System: Cerner experience is required.
  • COVID vaccine and recent TB test are required.

Benefits:

  • Weekly pay with competitive rates
  • Health, dental, and vision insurance
  • 401(k) retirement plan with company match
  • Referral bonuses for referring talented professionals into our network
  • Flexible schedules and personalized career support
