Registered Nurse – Labor & Delivery (Travel)

Shift: 3×12 Nights
Pay: $2,739.60/week
Completion Bonus: $2,500 per contract (up to $7,500 after three contracts)

Position Overview

ATC Healthcare is seeking an experienced Labor & Delivery Registered Nurse (RN) for a night shift travel assignment in Castro Valley, California. The L&D RN will care for expectant mothers throughout labor, delivery, and immediate postpartum recovery, ensuring a safe and supportive birth experience. This position requires strong fetal monitoring competency, quick clinical decision-making, and the ability to manage obstetric emergencies.

The role includes working every other weekend and occasional on-call shifts.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to laboring, delivering, and recovering patients.
• Perform and interpret advanced fetal monitoring (AWHONN Advanced/Intermediate).
• Assist with labor management, epidural care, inductions, and obstetric emergencies.
• Circulate for C-sections, assist with vaginal deliveries, and provide newborn support.
• Administer medications including oxytocin, magnesium sulfate, antihypertensives, and epidural therapy.
• Perform sterile vaginal exams, assess dilation/effacement/station, and monitor maternal-fetal status.
• Manage high-risk deliveries, including preeclampsia, hemorrhage, fetal distress, VBAC, and multiple gestations.
• Provide emotional support, breastfeeding assistance, and comprehensive parent education.
• Document all care accurately in Epic EMR.
• Float within maternal-child units (Postpartum/Mother–Baby Couplet) as needed.

Qualifications

• Active California RN license (required).
• Minimum 2 years of recent Labor & Delivery experience (required).
• Travel experience required.
• Certifications (AHA only):
  • BLS
  • ACLS
  • NRP
  • AWHONN Intermediate or Advanced Fetal Monitoring / FHM
• Proficient with:
  • External and internal fetal monitoring
  • IUPC placement/calibration
  • Pitocin titration
  • C-section circulating and recovery
  • OB emergency management
• EMR experience required; Epic strongly preferred.
• Proof of COVID-19 vaccination and recent tuberculosis test required.
