Job Type: Travel Contract
Duration: 6 weeks (potential to extend)
Shift: 3×12s Nights
Pay: $2,206.80/week (plus $2,500 completion bonus per contract, up to $7,500 after three contracts)
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Registered Nurse (RN) to provide comprehensive nursing care in a correctional healthcare environment. The RN will deliver patient care to inmates/residents, collaborating with Licensed Independent Providers and ensuring quality medical services that meet established facility and correctional standards.
This position involves both clinical and supervisory responsibilities, including medication administration, emergency care, and coordination with interdisciplinary teams.
Deliver direct nursing care and perform technical/clinical procedures within licensure scope.
Assist Licensed Independent Providers during examinations and treatments.
Conduct daily sick calls, prepare exam rooms, and maintain medical equipment.
Administer and document medication per policy (“pill call”).
Evaluate and treat inmates/residents with acute or chronic conditions; refer to external care facilities as needed.
Provide emergency care and initiate life-saving measures as necessary.
Monitor inpatient hospitalizations and facilitate early release when appropriate.
Supervise LPNs, LVNs, and non-licensed staff in nursing care delivery.
Maintain accurate and confidential medical documentation.
Ensure compliance with pharmacy regulations and controlled substance policies.
Educate inmates/residents on health promotion and disease prevention.
Participate in audits, safety reporting, and accreditation activities (NCCHC, ACA, JCAHO).
Collaborate with the Health Services Administrator on record reviews, reports, and documentation compliance.
Observe inmate/resident behavior, ensuring a secure and safe clinical environment.
Required:
Current and valid RN license in the state of Arizona (or compact eligible).
Graduate of an accredited nursing program (Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree).
Valid driver’s license.
Preferred:
Minimum 1 year of professional nursing experience (correctional or acute care preferred).
Certifications:
BLS (Basic Life Support) required.
