Job Summary
As a PCU Registered Nurse, you will bridge the gap between Intensive Care (ICU) and general Med/Surg. You will manage higher-acuity patients requiring close monitoring, advanced medication administration, and immediate stabilization in a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment.
Key Responsibilities
  • Clinical Care: Conduct comprehensive assessments, interpret cardiac rhythms, and manage complex, high-risk patients requiring continuous telemetry and advanced interventions. [1, 2]
  • Intervention & Support: Administer specialized medications (e.g., drips), manage intravenous lines, and operate critical equipment such as ventilators. 
  • Collaboration & Advocacy: Develop individualized care plans within a multidisciplinary team and educate patients/families on treatment and recovery. 
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate, real-time records in the EMR system. 
Qualifications & Requirements
  • Education: Graduate of an accredited RN program (BSN preferred).
  • Experience: 1–1.5 years of related experience in PCU, Step-Down, or Intermediate care, handling higher-acuity, 1:4-1:5 ratios.
  • Licensure/Certifications: Valid Virginia or compact RN license, BLS, and ACLS required; NIHSS certification preferred
