Registered Nurse (RN) - Emergency Department (ED)
- Patient Triage & Assessment: Conduct rapid, thorough initial assessments upon patient arrival. Prioritize care based on acuity using sound clinical judgment.
- Care Plan Execution: Design, implement, and adjust personalized care plans in a fast-paced environment. Monitor vitals and observe changes in condition for prompt interventions.
- Medication & Treatments: Administer medications, perform treatments, and initiate emergency protocols under physician guidance.
- Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Work seamlessly with physicians, technicians, paramedics, and other healthcare professionals to ensure smooth patient flow.
- Patient Advocacy & Education: Provide emotional support, clarify health conditions, and educate patients and their families regarding treatment and post-discharge care.
- Regulatory Compliance: Maintain accurate, timely documentation in accordance with regulatory standards and Sentara policies.
- Education: Associate's Degree (ADN) required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or higher preferred.
- Licensure: Active, unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license valid in the State of Virginia or compact multistate license.
- Experience: Previous acute care hospital experience required. Dedicated Emergency Room experience strongly preferred.
- Certifications:
- Basic Life Support (BLS) required within 90 days of hire.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required.
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) or Emergency Nursing Pediatric Certification (ENPC) required within one year of hire.
