Progressive Care Unit (PCU/Stepdown)
- Patient Assessment & Monitoring: Conduct comprehensive head-to-toe assessments. Continuously monitor telemetry, cardiac rhythms, and vital signs to detect any sudden changes.
- Clinical Interventions: Administer prescribed medications, IV therapies, and complex treatments. Manage specific cardiac/medical drips and utilize monitoring equipment safely.
- Care Planning: Collaborate directly with physicians, respiratory therapists, and the broader care team to implement and evaluate individual patient care plans.
- Patient & Family Education: Educate patients and their families on disease management, recovery expectations, and assist them with healthcare decision-making.
- Compliance & Documentation: Maintain accurate, timely, and compliant documentation within the Electronic Medical Records (EMR) system. Adhere strictly to infection control protocols and Sentara policies.
- Education: Graduate of an accredited Registered Nursing program. Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) accepted.
- Experience: Minimum of 1–2 years of recent acute care, telemetry, or critical care experience.
- Licensure/Certifications:
- Active, unencumbered Virginia RN License (or compact state license).
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
- Previous experience in a high-acuity Stepdown or PCU environment.
- Progressive Care Certified Nurse (PCCN) credential.
