Radiation Technician (RADTN)
- Prepare and position patients for various radiographic examinations, ensuring their comfort and cooperation throughout the process.
- Operate X-ray, fluoroscopy, or other specialized imaging equipment to capture internal structures for diagnostic purposes.
- Calculate and set appropriate exposure factors such as time, distance, and voltage based on the patient's physical condition and the area being imaged.
- Utilize radiation protection devices, such as lead aprons and shields, to minimize radiation exposure to patients and staff in accordance with ALARA principles.
- Evaluate completed radiographs for technical quality, including density, contrast, and definition, to ensure they meet diagnostic standards.
- Maintain accurate patient records, including documentation of the procedure performed and any contrast media used.
- Perform routine maintenance and quality control tests on imaging equipment, reporting any malfunctions or safety concerns to the supervisor.
- Collaborate with radiologists and other medical staff to coordinate patient care and prioritize urgent or emergency imaging requests.
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Radiologic Technology or a related field from an accredited program.
- Current certification and registration in Radiography by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
- Valid state licensure or certification for radiologic technologists, where applicable.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) or CPR certification.
- Strong knowledge of human anatomy, physiology, and radiographic positioning techniques.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate clearly with patients who may be in pain or distress.
- Technical proficiency in operating digital radiography (DR) and computed radiography (CR) systems.
This position is typically based in a hospital, urgent care center, or outpatient imaging facility. The role requires physical stamina, including the ability to stand for long periods, lift or move patients, and wear heavy lead shielding when necessary.
