We are seeking a compassionate and dependable Personal Care Assistant (PCA) to provide essential non-medical support to individuals who need assistance with daily activities due to aging, physical disability, or cognitive impairment. The goal of this role is to empower clients to live as independently and comfortably as possible in their own homes or residential facilities while ensuring their safety and well-being.
Key Responsibilities
  • Assist clients with activities of daily living (ADLs), including bathing, grooming, dressing, and toileting.
  • Provide support with instrumental activities of daily living (IADLs), such as light housekeeping, laundry, and grocery shopping.
  • Prepare nutritious meals according to the client’s dietary requirements and assist with feeding when necessary.
  • Provide medication reminders to ensure clients follow their prescribed schedules.
  • Assist with functional mobility, including transfers from beds to wheelchairs and positioning to prevent pressure sores.
  • Accompany clients to medical appointments, social outings, or errands, providing transportation if required.
  • Monitor the client’s physical and mental condition, reporting any significant changes to family members or supervisors.
  • Offer emotional support and companionship through conversation, games, or shared activities to reduce social isolation.
  • Maintain a clean and safe environment by identifying and mitigating potential fall or health hazards.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Proven experience in caregiving or a related field is preferred but not always required.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) or CPR/First Aid certification.
  • Ability to pass a comprehensive background check and drug screening.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation with active auto insurance.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a high level of patience and empathy.
  • Physical stamina to assist with lifting, pulling, or pushing clients as needed.
Work Environment
This position primarily takes place in the client’s private residence or a community living setting. The role requires the ability to work independently, maintain professional boundaries, and adapt to different household environments while respecting the client’s privacy and dignity.
