Registered Nurse (RN) – Step-Down Unit - Travel Position (with $7,500 Completion Bonus)

Location: Salem OR
Job Type: Travel Contract
Duration: 13 weeks
Shift: 4x12 Nights
Pay: $2,880.96 /week (plus $2,500 completion bonus per contract, up to $7,500 after three contracts) 

 


Job Summary:

The Step-Down RN provides specialized care for patients transitioning from intensive care to a lower level of acuity, requiring close monitoring and advanced nursing interventions. This role involves managing complex medical conditions, continuous telemetry monitoring, and collaborating with the healthcare team to ensure safe recovery.

 


Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver comprehensive nursing care to patients requiring intermediate-level monitoring.
  • Perform frequent assessments and monitor vital signs, cardiac rhythms, and lab results.
  • Administer medications, IV therapies, and titrate drips as prescribed.
  • Respond promptly to changes in patient condition and escalate care when necessary.
  • Educate patients and families on disease processes, treatments, and discharge planning.
  • Document all assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately in the electronic health record (EHR).
  • Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Maintain compliance with hospital policies, safety standards, and infection control procedures.

 


Qualifications:

  • Education: Graduate of an accredited nursing program (Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Nursing).
  • Licensure: Current RN license in [State].
  • Certifications:
    • Basic Life Support (BLS) – Required
    • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) – Required
    • Telemetry or Critical Care Certification – Preferred
  • Experience:
    • Minimum 1–2 years of acute care experience; step-down, IMC, or telemetry experience strongly preferred.

 


Skills & Competencies:

  • Proficiency in cardiac rhythm interpretation and intermediate-level critical care.
  • Strong critical thinking and rapid decision-making skills.
  • Excellent communication and patient education abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

 


Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand, walk, and assist with patient care for extended periods.
  • Manual dexterity for operating monitoring equipment and performing nursing procedures.
