Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) – Inpatient Rehabilitation - Travel Position (with $7,500 Completion Bonus)

Location: Lakeport, CA
Job Type: Travel Contract
Duration: 13 weeks
Shift: 5x8 Days
Pay: $
2,278.80 /week (plus $2,500 completion bonus per contract, up to $7,500 after three contracts) 

 


Job Summary:

The Inpatient Rehabilitation Speech-Language Pathologist evaluates, diagnoses, and treats patients with speech, language, cognitive-communication, and swallowing disorders following illness, injury, or surgery. This role focuses on restoring communication and swallowing function to improve independence and quality of life during recovery.

 


Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform comprehensive assessments of speech, language, cognition, and swallowing for patients in an inpatient rehab setting.
  • Develop individualized treatment plans based on patient needs and rehabilitation goals.
  • Provide therapy for aphasia, dysarthria, cognitive-communication deficits, and dysphagia.
  • Educate patients and families on therapy techniques, compensatory strategies, and home programs.
  • Collaborate with physicians, nurses, occupational therapists, physical therapists, and dietitians to ensure coordinated care.
  • Document evaluations, treatment sessions, and progress notes accurately in the electronic health record (EHR).
  • Maintain compliance with facility policies, professional standards, and state/federal regulations.

 


Qualifications:

  • Education: Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program.
  • Licensure/Certification:
    • Current state SLP license – Required
    • Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP) – Preferred
    • Basic Life Support (BLS) – Required
  • Experience:
    • Minimum 1 year of experience in inpatient rehab or acute care preferred; clinical fellowship year (CFY) may be considered.

 


Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong knowledge of neurogenic communication disorders and swallowing rehabilitation.
  • Ability to perform and interpret instrumental swallowing assessments (e.g., FEES, VFSS) preferred.
  • Excellent communication and patient education skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team.

 


Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand, walk, and assist patients during therapy sessions.
  • Manual dexterity for therapy tools and documentation.
