Job Description

ATC Healthcare is seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) Registered Nurse (RN) for a 13-week travel assignment in Dallas, Texas. This position involves providing expert care to critically ill and premature newborns in a Level III-IV, 108-bed NICU equipped with advanced neonatal technology.

The RN will manage complex neonatal conditions, including surgical, cardiac, and respiratory cases, and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure safe, high-quality care for newborns as young as 27 weeks gestation. This role requires exceptional neonatal assessment, airway management, and critical thinking skills.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver comprehensive nursing care to neonates requiring intensive monitoring and support in a high-acuity NICU environment.
  • Monitor and manage infants on ventilators, oscillators, Bubble CPAP, and nasal cannula.
  • Provide care for premature infants (≥28 weeks) and neonates with complex diagnoses such as congenital heart defects, respiratory failure, and surgical conditions.
  • Manage central lines, Broviacs, and infusion pumps, ensuring strict adherence to sterile technique and safety protocols.
  • Assist with and monitor neonatal procedures, including central line insertions, PDA ligations, circumcisions, exploratory laparotomies, and gastroschisis reductions.
  • Collaborate with neonatologists, respiratory therapists, and interdisciplinary team members to create individualized care plans.
  • Support and educate parents on newborn conditions, care procedures, and post-discharge preparation.
  • Accurately document care and progress using CPN and Meditech EMR systems.
  • Float as needed to Pediatrics, PICU, or CICU per facility policy.
  • Maintain compliance with infection control standards, unit policies, and hospital safety procedures.

Qualifications
  • Active Texas RN license or Compact State license (required).
  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing (BSN preferred).
  • Minimum of 1 year of Level III or Level IV NICU experience (required).
  • Certifications: BLS and NRP (required).
  • Proficiency in neonatal ventilator and oscillator management, central line care, and respiratory support techniques.
  • Experience caring for neonates with surgical and cardiac conditions, including tracheostomy management and Broviac lines.
  • Ability to manage a 1:1 to 1:4 nurse-to-patient ratio in a high-acuity environment.
  • Must wear royal blue scrubs per department dress code.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and family-centered care skills.
  • Proof of COVID-19 vaccination and recent tuberculosis test required.
