Completion Bonus: $2,500 per contract (up to $7,500 after three contracts)
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Labor & Delivery Registered Nurse (RN) who can also float to Med-Surg for a mixed L&D/Mother-Baby and inpatient care assignment. This role provides comprehensive obstetric care-including labor, delivery, recovery, postpartum, and nursery-and requires willingness to float and assist on the Med-Surg unit when census is low in L&D.
The RN will receive Med-Surg orientation and may take assignments or provide support on that unit approximately half the time. This role is ideal for an adaptable clinician with strong perinatal experience and comfort supporting additional inpatient needs.

Key Responsibilities
- Provide full-scope L&D nursing care: labor support, delivery assistance, postpartum recovery, and newborn care
- Monitor fetal heart tones and interpret fetal monitoring tracings
- Support vaginal deliveries and respond to obstetric emergencies
- Administer medications and IV therapy, including epidural support
- Provide education on labor, breastfeeding, newborn care, and postpartum recovery
- When L&D census is low, float to Med-Surg to assist or take patient assignments after orientation
- Safely transition between OB and Med-Surg environments based on unit needs
- Respond to emergency situations and escalate concerns promptly
- Document care accurately in Meditech EMR
- Collaborate with physicians, midwives, nursery staff, and interdisciplinary teams
- Work every other weekend as scheduled
Qualifications
- Active Missouri RN license or Compact State license (required at submission)
- Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing
- Minimum 2 years recent Labor & Delivery experience (required)
- Ability to provide postpartum, nursery, and Med-Surg support as needed
- Strong fetal monitoring experience (required)
- Med-Surg experience not required; must be willing to float and learn
- Certifications (required):
- BLS
- ACLS
- NRP
- PALS
- Fetal Monitoring certification
- Strong adaptability, critical-thinking skills, and communication skills
- Experience using Meditech EMR preferred
- Must be able to work every other weekend
- Proof of COVID-19 vaccination and recent tuberculosis test required.
