Operating Room Circulating Registered Nurse - Travel Position

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Operating Room Circulating Registered Nurse to join on a travel contract in Wausau, WI. The Circulating Nurse will provide critical support before, during, and after surgical procedures by ensuring patient safety, maintaining sterile environments, and coordinating surgical team needs. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, adaptable, and experienced in various surgical specialties.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess patients preoperatively and verify documentation, consent forms, and safety checklists.
  • Prepare the operating room with appropriate supplies, instruments, and equipment.
  • Circulate during surgical procedures, monitoring patient status and anticipating the needs of surgeons and anesthesiologists.
  • Maintain sterile fields and adhere to infection control and safety protocols.
  • Accurately document intraoperative care, patient status, and surgical events.
  • Collaborate with surgical technologists, anesthesia staff, and recovery teams to ensure optimal outcomes.
  • Provide post-operative care support, ensuring safe patient transfers and continuity of care.


Qualifications
  • Current and valid Registered Nurse license in Wisconsin (or compact license).
  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program (Associate Degree in Nursing or Bachelor of Science in Nursing).
  • Minimum of 1 year of recent circulating RN experience in the operating room.
  • Current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS); Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) preferred.
  • COVID-19 vaccine and recent tuberculosis test.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to adapt quickly to different surgical specialties and a fast-paced environment.
