Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced and adaptable Medical Surgical Telemetry Nurse (RN or LPN) to provide comprehensive acute care for a diverse adult patient population on a busy 36-bed unit. This role requires continuous cardiac monitoring and management of general medical-surgical conditions, including post-Heart Cath patients. The ideal candidate must have recent Med Surg Tele experience, proficiency with the Meditech EMR, strong critical thinking skills, and a helpful, positive attitude.

Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced and adaptable Medical Surgical Telemetry Nurse (RN or LPN) to provide comprehensive acute care for a diverse adult patient population on a busy 36-bed unit. This role requires continuous cardiac monitoring and management of general medical-surgical conditions, including post-Heart Cath patients. The ideal candidate must have recent Med Surg Tele experience, proficiency with the Meditech EMR, strong critical thinking skills, and a helpful, positive attitude.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct patient care to a ratio of 6 patients to 1 nurse, managing both general medical-surgical needs and continuous cardiac monitoring.
- Expertly utilize telemetry equipment to monitor, interpret, and document cardiac rhythms, promptly notifying the Charge Nurse and physician of any changes.
- Care for patients undergoing typical unit procedures, including monitoring and managing patients post-Heart Caths.
- Administer prescribed medications, perform dressing changes, and monitor vital signs using equipment such as EKG Machines, DynaMaps, and Bladder Scanners.
- Work closely with the Charge Nurse (CN), other nurses (RN/LPN mix), Techs, and the Unit Secretary to ensure coordinated patient care.
- Maintain accurate and timely patient records using the Meditech EMR system.
Qualifications:
- Active RN license in Louisiana.
- Associate's or Bachelor's Degree in Nursing.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certifications.
- Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in a Medical-Surgical or Telemetry setting.
- COVID vaccine and recent TB test are required.
