Job Description:
We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Behavioral Health RN to provide high-quality, patient-focused care to individuals with psychiatric and behavioral health needs. The RN will play a key role in patient assessment, treatment planning, and therapeutic interventions while ensuring a safe and supportive environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct nursing care to patients in psychiatric and behavioral health settings.
- Assess mental health status, monitor progress, and document care in accordance with policies and standards.
- Administer prescribed medications and monitor effects.
- Collaborate with psychiatrists, therapists, and interdisciplinary staff in developing and implementing treatment plans.
- Maintain a safe, therapeutic environment while supporting crisis intervention and de-escalation.
- Educate patients and families on treatment goals, coping skills, and available resources.
- Support quality improvement and compliance initiatives within the behavioral health unit.
Qualifications:
- Associate's or Bachelor's Degree in Nursing
- Current RN license in IA
- Certifications Required:
- BLS (AHA)
- HWC (Handle with Care) or equivalent crisis intervention training
- Experience: 2-3 years of behavioral health or psychiatric nursing experience
